Julia McAnallen
My professional career started with a bachelors degree in engineering from the University of Michigan. After graduation I worked for the federal government for a few years before I navigated my way back to higher ed to study linguistics and Slavic languages at the University of California, Berkeley. After earning my PhD from Berkeley in 2011, I held a 2-year postdoc at IE University in Spain, which is a small private university linked to the business school IE (Instituto de Empresa). In May 2013 I started my current position as PhD Career Specialist, tasked with expanding career opportunities for PhD students beyond academia.
