Web Tools for Language Research and Teaching

This workshop will introduce Voyant, a web-based reading and analysis environment for digital texts. Voyant is particularly useful for surfacing lexical features of texts like word frequencies and other distributions of data. The workshop will also introduce TimelineJS, an open source tool for building media rich interactive timelines. TimelineJS can serve as a teaching and display tool for providing context to linguistic output via maps, images, text and video and for showing how languages are used over time.
